I really enjoyed this book. What a generous writer Danny Meyer is. He is infectious with his enthusiasm and his true passion for hospitality. Even though Europe does not have such a service-driven restaurant culture, we could do well to take many a page out of Danny Meyer's book. The book has many ingredients: it is part-memoir, part business manual, part fly-on-the-wall about his own chain of restaurants. What I like most about Danny Meyer is that he doesn't keep his cards close to his heart. So many restaurateurs would guard many of their successful business formulas like a holy treasure. Not Danny Meyer; he genuinely believes in spreading the word about "enlightened hospitality". I suppose he realizes that if you're on to a good thing, it can only multiply by sharing it. I can only salute him for that! This book is not, however, a "food memoir" or really about food at all, and unless you are in some way associated with the hospitality business or are interested in business strategy, then this book might be a little too specific.

If you are in the hospitality industry you simply have to read this!

Must read if you want to start your own restaurant. In case you are going to NEW YORK, go visit some of his restaurants.
